Upper Arlington Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also known as BJJ, is a form of martial arts that focuses on self-defense, ground fighting, and applying takedowns. Throws, joint locks. chokeholds, and sweeps are all part of the program. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which was originally developed in Brazil, traces its roots to traditional Japanese jiu-jitsu as well as the Japanese martial art of Judo.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu or BJJ is a tried-and-true martial art. It’s also a proven method for self-defense. The Army, Navy Seals (FBI), FBI, and local police all train in Jiu-Jitsu. Mix Martial Arts (MMA) Lessons in Upper Arlington, Ohio

Our Mixed Martial Arts program guides trainees the fundamentals of various martial arts disciplines. MMA is a difficult yet thrilling full-contact sport that implements a mix of strategies from Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai, and Boxing.

ADULT JIU-JITSU PROGRAMS

All adult/jr students aged 13 and older are welcome to this class. The class will cover a wide range of BJJ training techniques from basic to advanced. By mixing belts, beginner students are able to train hands-on with advanced students. In turn, advanced students get training partners who can help them improve their fundamentals and develop new, more advanced techniques.

The heart of Jiu-jitsu classes is: Classes incorporate some of our “seasoned” novices. They are paired with some of our most patient, skilled and experienced BJJ practitioners. These partners will offer a broad range skills which can be used to build confidence in students. Our more experienced practitioners can sharpen their skills by mixing partners. Full sparring is encouraged but not necessary.

The class structure revolves around a warmup and conditioning and lessons in technique, application to partner training and sparring to continue practicing their overall jiujitsu methods.

SUBMISSION GRAPPLING

Submission Grappling, a general term for combat arts or martial arts that focus on ground and clinch fighting with the aim to achieve a submission, is one of many terms used. It brings together techniques from Freestyle Wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Folk American Wrestling (catch-as-catch-can), Sambo, and Judo. Submission Grappling is an excellent way to learn self defense and to stay in shape. You do not need any prior martial arts experience.

KID’S JIU-JITSU PROGRAM

Upper Arlington Kid’s Jiujitsu will bring you immeasurable benefits. Children ages 6-12 can learn self-defense skills through our unique kid’s Jiujitsu program. Jiu-jitsu not only serves self-defense but has been shown to also provide self-protection.

Kid’s Jiujitsu requires children to utilize their bodies and minds. It builds dexterity. Children will be taught the basics of Jiujitsu and how to apply them to self-defense and when they can join the JR or adult Jiu Jitsu classes.

Jiujitsu is not just for self-defense. It also brings balance to the mind and body that will help your child grow in self-esteem. Our society is constantly changing and we are exposed to anxiety, stress, peer pressure, and anxiety at a rapid rate. Adults need to learn to relax, while children need to be able to control their emotions, manage their time, stay focused, and maintain a good sense of self.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides kids with the confidence to succeed in today’s rapidly changing world. It’s a fun way for children to get out of their heads through structured martial art training. It’s based on individual progress and will help children gain their confidence. They will learn new skills/techniques as they try. It is important to emphasize the importance of lesson training.
